Finally the Motorola Milestone can be rooted!

Finally it is possible to root your Motorola Milestone phone. After some weeks of waiting there seems to be an update to 2.0.1. available to some users, the update files have been used to create a root update.zip that will give root access to your phone.

Here are the instructions to root your Motorola Milestone:
  1. Download the file there and rename iit to update.zip
  2. Put it on to your sd-card
  3. shutdown the phone
  4. press the camera button and the power button and hold bothe pressed until the warn sigb appears /!\
  5. when the sign is there press the camera button and the volume + trigger at the same time (maybe you will need sometime to try it because it has to be rly at the same time)
  6. when you have pressed those the recovery menu will appear, just apply the update.zip there
You can find the update file for your root here:
http://www.sera-apps.de/milestone_root.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/?jw4omongmyu
http://www.gemro.info/milestone_root.zip

Please understand that even though the update is 30MB in size, all it contains is a file that overwrites your superuser package. This package makes sure you get your root on the Motorola Milestone. The file is 30MB in size so it remains compatible and appears to be a legit file from Motorola.
